Internal Talent Quest |

The Internal Talent Quest (ITQ) has always been one of the most highlighted events in St. Joseph's College, attracting hundreds of audiences from many different schools. This year's was no different, except for one thing. Unlike the past, the ITQ held this year is not a profit-making event. Instead, all proceeds are donated to UNICEF, making every audience a contributor to charity.
At 6.35 pm sharp, the doors to the entrance hall of our school were opened to admit the long queue of people waiting outside the school gates. Nearly bursting from anticipation, they rushed down the corridors to the new hall, but it was a hall no more. The dark interior, colorful spotlights and booming music and had transformed it into an auditorium, and on the stage, there hung a gigantic backdrop, displaying proudly the words "Internal Talent Quest 2005".
The show soon went under way. Led by Sammy, our guest mc, and Marcus Cheng, the audiences were thrown into ecstasy as the competitors struggled to show off the best of their singing skills onstage. However, the stage was not to be dominated by our students only. The appearance of familiar guest stars, such as Mr. Alex Fong, Ms. Denise Ho, and Mr. Edmund Leung electrified every audience into a screaming frenzy and threw the show into climax after climax.
In seemingly no time at all, the ITQ ended with the announcement of the winners. Dickson captured the first place, Roger the second and Carlos the third. As the audience left the hall, it was with heavy reluctance in their hearts and dragging footsteps all the way out, but it was unanimously agreed that this ITQ was most definitely a success.

In March, the Students' Union organized a three-week-long Student Festival. Through the festival, the relationship between students and teachers would be drawn more closely. Teachers would compete with students in different sports. As usual, we had table-tennis, badminton, football, basketball, tennis, etc. This year, the Students' Union had added something more. A Sports Carnival was added in the festival. Students could join the carnival as a team in football or basketball, the carnival was classified into Junior and Senior. Students were participating enthusiastically. Also, there was a PS2 Winning Eleven Contest between students from all the forms. All the Josephians enjoyed this annually held Student Festival.

Christian Union has always played an active role in the school. Besides the usual Wednesday masses, a Religious Festival is held bi-annually to bring Christianity closer to the Josephians. The theme this year is ¡¥God's Love is Simple'. It was held successfully in February, featuring a football match between the brothers and CU members , a youth mass, and also the Religious show, which brought the festival to the climax. The show gathered students from different forms in the New Hall. What came first in the show was a sharing, in which Christian Union had invited a visually impaired woman to tell her life experience. After that, there was a drama by members of the Christian Union. The show ended under a warm atmosphere with the audience and actors singing altogether.

Thanks to the outstanding accomplishments throughout the 130 years of endeavour, we proudly organized the Grand Open Day celebrating the 130th Anniversary. The theme for the Open Day is ¡¥Starring Josephians'. It was lucratively held on 30 th January. Flocks of visitors cruised around the school campus during that day. We were honoured to have Dr. The Hon. David K.P. Li, GPS, JP as our Guest of Honour that day.
During the opening ceremony, the guests made a time capsule which is now located near the main entrance. After that, we had many performances on the main stage, for example, speech, Chinese martial arts and musical performances by the School Orchestra, Josephian Chamber Orchestra and the School Choir. Also, there were numerous game stalls and exhibitions in the playgrounds and classrooms. All of them were packed with extravagance, showing the great work done by the organizers.
This year, Students' Union made sets of souvenirs to celebrate such a remarkable event. They include Polo T-shirts, the 130 th Anniversary Tie, Josephian Key Chain, stationery and a set of envelopes and stamps. All of them are unique and extraordinary.
The atmosphere went higher as the sun level went lower. After the Internal Talent Quest semi-final and the performance by teachers and old boys, the highlight of the day came ¡V the longing closing ceremony. Everybody knew that something was different this year, but they would never know until the whole campus went dark suddenly. Nothing but spotlights were gleaming on the wall of the school building. Right after then, a breakthrough of history happened. There was a nearly one-minute-long firework. No secondary schools in Hong Kong had ever made fireworks in the campus and our school had made a new entry to our illustrious history. The Grand Open Day finally ended at 19:30 and all the visitors left the school with exclamation and a word ¡V ¡¥marvellous'.

The 82nd Annual Athletic Meet was held on the 6th January at Wanchai Stadium. That morning, everyone was looking forward to the competition coming up. All of them were hoping either themselves or their class to have a taste of triumph.
After a morning prayer and a minute of silence for the victims of the tsunami in South Asia , the Athletic Meet was then started. There were four grades for different forms. Grade A for form 5-7, Grade B for form 3 and 4, Grade C for form 2 and Grade D for form 1.
Besides athletes in the field fighting for the champion, students did not participate in both track and field events were sitting in the spectators' seats, forming a cheering team for their classes. Whenever there was an event, encouragement from the cheering teams echoed throughout the stadium in the forms of shouting or waving some kind of tools made by their own.
After the inter-class track and field events, the climax of the day finally came. The highlight of the day was the Clubs & Old Boys Relay. Old boys of our school came back to St. Joseph 's from different countries and participated the relay. They said they were there to celebrate the 130th Anniversary of SJC. As for the clubs, Football Club, Aquatic Club, Athletic Club and were also in the relay.
The Athletic Meet ended after the prize giving ceremony. Students were dismissed at noon and there was a discretionary holiday the day after.

Green And White Ball 2004 -

This year's Green and White Ball was another successful one in the history of St. Joseph's College. This year, the main theme of the ball was LoVenus, meaning the angel of love. Participants were given a chance to interact with the opposite sex and had a good time dancing with them.
The preparation, decoration of the hall and coordination during the ball was all done by the Interact Club. They had really done a great job. On that night, the hall was fascinating. Several big headlights in the ceiling created a fantastic lighting effect. Dry ice was also used to make the hall even more ¡§mysterious¡¨ and romantic. The atmosphere was even more strengthened by the loudspeakers on both sides of the hall, where extravagant, harmonic songs were delivered throughout the whole event.
After a brief admission, the ball began. All participants dressed in a formal manner. Boys wore suits. Most girls had made a stylish hairstyle, put on make-ups and dressed as beautiful as a princess! At first girls and boys were still a bit shy, especially for boys, who found it difficult to invite girls to dance with them. However, under the great sound and visual effect, they became more relaxed and opened. We could see some girls and boys dancing in a small group after a short while. Soon some ¡§brave¡¨ ones gave out their invitations! Luckily, they seemed quite successful.
The vote for the Green and White Couple was another climax during the ball. Three couples were chosen from the crowd. They faced the challenge of the embarrassing questions asked by the M.C. The questions were hard ones and some of the answers were very hilarious. Finally, after a vote, the Green and White Couple of this year were Kent To and his girlfriend. Congratulations!
Apart from the vote, we also had a dancing performance by several girls' dancers. It was tremendous. Finally, the ball was ended in romance. After the song ¡§Right here waiting for you¡¨, the M.C. reluctantly announced the end of the ball. All of them had a great time, though.

After the solemn blessing, a joyful Christmas party was held in the New Hall.
The party consisted of two games, a lucky draw and a drama. The first game was to transfer a balloon through a line of people by using their hands only. The team whose ball reached the last one in the shortest time would be the winner. Followed by that was a drama about the birth of Jesus. The fellow actors played their roles in a vivid and humorous way. Afterwards, our little energetic josephians showed their intelligence and sensitivity in the "Question and Answer" contest. The crowd was divided into two teams and their tasks were to answer as many questions as possible to build a Christmas tree. All students cooperated, tried their best and had a good time. Finally, delicious drinks and food were served for the hungry ones!!

The 130th St.Joseph's Christmas Mass was successfully held in the chapel of St. Joseph 's College. This year we were glad to have Father Lam, an old boy of St.Joseph's College to lead the mass. On that day, the chapel was filled with students, school officials and several old boys.
The mass was held under a peaceful and solemn tone. Apart from prayers, we had our senior choir to sing out several holy songs, such as "He" and "Hosanna is the highest". Father Lam was quite hilarious and often made humorous jokes. He talked about human value, Jesus' birth and also shared some past experiences with us. At the end of the mass, our principal Mr. Leung presented some souvenirs to Father Lam. Finally, the Christmas carol "Joy to the World" marked the end of this event.

Inter-school Cross Country Race |
¡@ |
(Reported by Thomas Li, 15th Nov, 2004 )
Running is a sport that is good for health and body, but speed is also an important aspect in running. Therefore, the Inter-school Cross Country Competition was held for students in Hong Kong by the HKSSF. This year, the venue of the running ground was at Hong Kong Golf Club and it was held on 15th November 2004 . Students taking part in the race had been training very hard at lunchtime throughout the last few weeks for they hope to achieve good results in the competition.
Josephian competitors who would take part in the race arrived at school promptly on 7:15 a.m. Everyone was very nervous and didn't talk much. When the bus, which was hired to take us up to Hong Kong Golf Club arrived, the teacher-in-charge, Mr. M.T. Wong escorted the competitors into the bus. He distributed the athletic team clothes to us, and unsurprisingly, the clothes were in green and white in colour.
After about an hour of the road, we arrived at Hong Kong Golf Club. It was a very nice place with green trees; grass and beautiful scenery. The air was very fresh and the environment was quiet. When we walked over to the registered area, despite the fact that there was lots of time to spare, we were a bit shocked when we saw most schools were already present and waiting. Some competitors from other schools looked at us with proud eyes and sneering grins. But we met them squarely in the eyes and didn't flinch.
C Grade ran first, followed by B Grade and finally A Grade. The running track was grass and we didn't really need to run on soil and dirt except a few sections of the race. The scenery was very beautiful and attracting, but it was not the time to admire the view. Everyone was very trying their best to run faster than the other. Shouts of encouragement from teachers, friends and working staffs were everywhere. Those who were thinking of giving up gritted their teeth and pumped more adrenaline to their legs.
After the race, all competitors were all exhausted and tired and their legs were sore and painful, however, Josephian runners were proud of themselves. Finishing the race is no easy matter and we congratulate ourselves no matter how we did. Our hearts has only content of finishing something worthwhile.

Inter-Class Banner Design Competition |
¡@ |
(Reported by Kenneth Hui, 10th Nov, 2004 )
View Snapshots Here
On the sunny day of 10th November, energetic Josephians showed their artistic talent in the annual banner painting competition, held by the Aesthetic Society. The theme for this year's design is based on the celebration of our college's 130th anniversary. Early in the morning, the football pitch was already covered in banner cloth and tables for each participating team. There was also a huge eye-catching banner hanging on the New Building to advertise this special event.
When the bell rang at 8:15AM , the competition started immediately. Each class had a team of five representatives and their assigned task was to paint and decorate their banners in the most attractive, colorful and fascinating style. At the early stage, some teams discussed and made plans for further actions, some teams immediately started painting their piece of work while others were troubled with their design and seemed rather anxious.
After one and a half hour of competition time, a few efficient teams had already finished painting half of their banners. Most banners contained different kinds of symbols and slogans, such as ¡¥SJC Forever!', ¡¥SJC, best of the best', ¡¥CREME de la CREME' and even ¡¥Happy Birthday'. Despite being in the middle of a competition and want win, most students appeared to be rather relaxed and were thoroughly enjoying themselves. Laughter and chattering could be heard from every corner of the playground. Helpers were busy trying to assist the groups in need by giving out paints and brushes. By ten o'clock , the undecided groups had agreed on their drafts and started painting on the cloth.
Recess arrived in a snap of fingers. Students from each class rushed down to the football pitch and to get a glimpse of their class' performance. Cheering and encouragement rented the air. The competition became more and more exciting under their support. Perhaps it's not only a competition; it had become a carnival which entertained everyone involved in the episode.
After the recess, the competition entered its final stage. Participants were no longer relaxed. It's a time for them to rush and to win. Even the groups which had had a quarrel before became unified and cooperated with each other. Everyone's mind was solely focused on the banner. Each group was extremely attentive and concentrated on their own work. Their progresses in the last thirty minutes were unbelievable. By the time the competition ended, every group had their banner painted in a unique style. Tables were placed vertically along the playground, which enabled the chief adjudicator to compare different paintings and give comment on each banner. After 3.5 hours of hard work, participants seemed rather exhausted, but they were still very concerned with the result. All of them waited impatiently while the adjudicator walked past the tables. He seemed very satisfied with the quality of the paintings and praised every team for its efforts they have dedicated into the banner. No doubt, it has been a very rewarding and educational activity, as students learn to cooperate with one another and understand difference perspectives of designing a banner. We look forward to next year's banner design competition!

Recruitment Week |

The new hall was again saturated with Josephians showing off their presentation skills. Crowds of students packed the new hall every lunchtime. It was the Recruitment Week, a very special tradition of St. Joseph 's College. All clubs had a chance to recruit members for four days and they set up stylish stalls in the new hall in order to attract students last week. The new hall was colorful and chattering could be heard from every corner of the hall. Executive committees of different clubs used different methods to persuade students to join their club. There were many methods. Selling points like "we are going to have joint school camps and barbeques and so on..." could be heard so often that it usually did not work. Some students prefer attracting members by lowering their joining fees. Plans like 20% membership fees off when you and your friend join at the same time also works. Of course, there were some "better" methods such as patting your shoulders and asking you do join for you and I are friends, or perhaps asking students to fill in the forms first and they pay on the first meeting.
This year's highlight was the stall which belonged to the Magic Society for it was just established during last summer holiday. Magic has been a very popular entertainment in our school for a number of years already and finally a new club was established. People were attracted to their stall all the time and it was extremely crowded near their stall. They promotion method was special. The chairman of the club, Ng Ka Wai of form 4E was actually performing magical tricks which he had been practicing for more than 4 years. Students of all forms joined their club, even for form 6 "adults" who were over 18!
The recruitment week ended on the 8th of October, successfully and all club chairmen were happy to see their results.

Prelude¡K
As early as seven-thirty in the morning on the 20th of October, Josephians were already seen gathering outside Kowloon Park Swimming Pool. Everyone was waiting impatiently for the start of one of the most highlighted event of the year ¡V the Inter-school Swimming Championships Final. After days of cheering practice, they were ready to put themselves to the test and give our swimmers the greatest support.
Morning¡K
Eight o' clock found hundred of students from different schools seated on the spectator stands of the Kowloon Park Swimming Pool. All eyes were riveted to the pool. The tension was building, so thick that you could almost taste it. Swimmers stood at ready before the pool¡K¡K¡K. ¡§Take your marks¡K¡K¡K¡Kgo!!!¡¨ The swimmers leapt forth! The Annual Inter-school Swimming Championships Final has begun!!
Flags were fluttering. Banners were raised. Slogans and songs rented the air as cheering teams from different schools unleashed the power of their voices. It was indeed a breathtaking scene.
Prominent among all others was our school's cheering team. Chants of ¡§SJC Forever¡¨ and ¡§Woo, St. Joe¡¨, to name a few, reverberated around the pool, shaking the very floor. Every single Josephian put everything they had behind each cheer, and their effort was not to be wasted. Spurred on by the enthusiastic and mighty cry of our well-practiced cheering team, our swimmers gave their best in every event. Their performances were sensational and they achieved victory after victory. Delighted though we were, the biggest challenges still lay ahead, waiting to be conquered.
Afternoon¡K
After refueling themselves in the lunch break, our school cheering team and swimmers made their way back to the pool. Each one of them felt extremely eager for the most exciting events were yet to come, and come it did.
Cheering teams from every school shouted aloud their well-practiced slogans, waving their school flags vigorously in the air, every one of them struggling with all their might to surpass the other. But this battle was nothing compared to the war fought in the pool. Swimmers swam as if their very lives depended on it. Every 0.01-second was crucial as it could mean a difference between victory and defeat. For that small fraction but immensely important time, swimmers squeezed out every last bit of their strength, striving to bring glory to their respective schools.
The climax was finally reached later that day as the most anticipated event --relay-- commenced. Counting twice the points as other normal events, a single victory can make a huge difference in the overall rankings. Our A-grade swimming team was tested to their limits as they pitted against their strongest opponents ¡V Diocesan's Boys School ¡Xin a showdown of strength, determination and cooperation in the 4x50 meters Freestyle relay. Neck to neck in points, a victory meant overall A-grade champion for either school¡K
¡§ Take your marks¡K¡K¡K¡K..Boop!¡¨ And they were off in a splash!! Waves of screaming support poured down from both sides of the spectators stand. Every swimmer was seen straining all their strength as they streaked through the foamy water. The cheers from supporters increased at every lap. It was a replay of the battle for the Olympian gold! All through the 200 meters, no one dared to even blink for fear of missing even a moment of this spectacular fight for supremacy. AND WE DID IT!! Although we only came second, our swimmers had overtaken DBS and sealed the A-grade champion! Thunderous cheers of approval poured out from our cheering teams. ¡§Who's the Winner? SJC! Who's the Champion? SJC! We are the winners! We are the Champions! YES!¡¨
Epilogue¡K
Besides the A-grade champion, we also captured the third in both B- grade and C-grade. We were the overall second runner-up. Although we had failed to achieve the overall champion, our swimmers will definitely rise again in the coming year.
SJC FOREVER!

Academic Prize Giving Day |

(Reported by Justin Ismail, 17th Oct, 2004 )
On 17th October, 2004, the walls of St. Joseph's College bathed in the ever brightening rays of the morning sun, but the heart-warming feeling isn't even close to the happiness and joy of how Josephians felt. Students and parents walked into the school entrance hand-in-hand with wide and broadening smiles on their faces. This special day was our Academic Prize Giving Day and truly, it was an unforgettable and simply outstanding day.
At 8:30 sharp, the ceremony began with students and parents seated in the New Hall. Led by our loyal and well-disciplined Red Cross unit, the guests approached the stage and sat in front . Soon afterwards, our Guest of Honour, the director of the Social Welfare department, Mr. Paul Tang, gave us a truly inspiring speech concerning his years in which he studied in SJC. Before long, the certificates were presented to the outstanding students in which, during the past academic year, had achieved with their effort and hard-work. Each one of them stood on the stage with smiles on their faces as they collected their certificates with honour. Cheers and claps could be heard loudly, the New Hall was filled with voices and applauses. As the intercessions commenced, different talented Josephians had also waltzed up to the stage, performing from English and Chinese and even Putonghua verse speaking pieces to different musical masterpieces, combining both Western and Eastern.
The ceremony ended at around 10:30 a.m. , and as it was still rather early, the school had prepared some refreshments that were being served in the library. Although the ceremony was rather short, the aim of the Prize-giving ceremony has been fully served: to award students with good academic results and encourage them to do even better in the future. These inspiration and heart-felt encouragements will not be forgotten.

The Inter-class Annual Swimming Gala has always been one of the biggest events in our school calendar. This year's Swimming Gala held on the 4th October, 2004 at Victoria Park public swimming pool. At around 8:15 a.m. , Josephians penetrated the Entrance of the swimming pool as they walked energetically towards the spectators' stands, chattering with one another and looking very nervous yet excited.
Within 15 to 20 minutes, cheers filled the spectators' stands as the first event was about to begin! The competitors made their way to the locker rooms and began to change into their swimming outfits and swimming caps almost immediately. As the games progressed, colorfully painted banners and flags were raised, as each class cheered for their own classmates, and, by the look on their faces, it seemed as if they were the ones who were competing in the events! Soon, competitors from every class took their standings, and with the sound of the horn, jumped headfirst into the freezing water without hesitation. Each and every one of them swam with all their strength and might, not one of them letting down their guard, as they finally raced through the finish line. Naturally, the winner of the event was certainly smiling and looking as if he'd just won an Olympic Gold medal, but those who were not the winners had broad grins and excited looks on their faces. They must have understood that participation and having fun were the only things that mattered. During the intermissions, winners of the events were then asked to come forward to receive their medals, as our Reverend Brother Thomas, School Principal Mr. C.H. Leung and Vice-Principals Mr. C. Chan and Mr. P. Ip stood beside them, hanging heavy gold, silver and bronze medals over their heads and shaking each of their hands. These winners sacrificed a lot of time and they absolutely deserve this award. We also had DBS, St. Paul 's, LSC, CSK and a few other schools to compete in our invitation relay.
As the morning progressed, our swimming gala reached the climax of the day when the relays commenced. In each inter-class relay, full cooperation of the swimmers in each class could be seen. Shouts of encouragement and cheers coming from different class could be heard throughout the entire stadium to support the representative swimmers. When the teachers VS this year's Students Union began, all students in whole stadium stood up to witness this fascinating event. Both teams, at the sound of the final horn, jumped into the water and began to swim as fast as they could. We were also honored to have Mrs. Cheng, mother of Cheung Yuen of F. 4A, to swim in the event. Mrs. Cheng had swum in the Olympics in years of 1970s and 1980s and she had managed to gain stunning results in her competing events. In the end, our teacher team defeated our fellow Student's Union members in the relay and was indeed very happy that they had been able to have and a nice, cool swim and splash they'd never forget. We hope that the next Inter-class swimming gala can arrive soon.

Fire Drill and National Day Celebration |

The campus of our school is not really big enough for such a large group of students and staff. When casualties happen, without any practice, the whole crowd will evacuate in a chaotic way. At that moment, a tiny mishap will then become a catastrophe.
To strengthen the sense and efficiency of the reaction to accidents, the school will express the correct way not only in theory, but also in practical way. During the last lesson on the thirtieth of September, an intermittent sound of bell was heard. The sound signified the first of the two fire drills throughout the whole school year was to hold.
Students in all classes rapidly lined up outside their classrooms and followed the route that was scheduled to the playground swiftly. No one was being shilly-shally under teachers' instruction. Class prefects repeatedly took the attendance to ensure all the pupils of their classes were in the queue. It took less than 7 minutes to gather the entire school over 1,000 students and staff in the playground.
As the National Day is a public holiday, therefore the flag-raising ceremony was arranged after the fire drill. Anderson Tsang, this year's President of Student Union, made his speech at the beginning of the ceremony. He emphasized the Josephian spirit and heralded the functions of the Student Union in the coming months. Just before he ended, he led the whole Josephian family a Josephian strike.
Subsequently, three Scouts brought the National Flag of the People's Republic China . The flag was waving in the air while the National Anthem echoed in every corner of the school. The flag reached the top just as the last note was played. Students then were sent for an early dismissal as the ceremony ended.

School Opening Mass |

This year is our school's 130th Anniversary. Our school had such a long and fruitful history, all owning to God. He given us a wonderful place to study and learn, but also achievements and guidance for every student. It is our duty and responsibility to thank Him for what he had done for us. The first mass of the school year, the Opening Mass, was held on the 30th of September to praise and thank him. After the first three lessons, Forms 1 to 3 went to St. Joseph 's Church, which was just next to our school. Form 1 students were especially curious, for it was their first time to go to St. Joseph 's Church, and they looked at everything with wonder in their eyes. They were amazed seeing the huge images of Jesus Christ and Saint Joseph .
It was about 10:30 when the mass started. Our school invited Father Paul Kim to be the priest. Everyone became quiet at once when the choir started their joyful singing to God and Father Kim came into the church. Everyone knows that full concentration is needed from that time onwards.
The mass went on very smoothly under Father Kim's guidance. One could easily discover that he was spreading the words of love, for others and for God. The words he said was read from paper, but all came out truly from his soul. The prayers were filled with strong feelings, which captured our hearts throughout the mass.

Dress Causal Day |

An incredible transformation took place in St. Joseph 's College on the 28th of September. Not only was it the day of Mid-Autumn Festival, it was also the Dress Casual Day. Instead of the usual white shirt and gray trousers, nearly every Josephian turned up at school wearing different clothes, varying from jeans to soccer jerseys. Even the atmosphere seemed casual and relaxing as students compared their favorite clothing and attire.
Organized by the Hong Kong Community Chest, the Dress Casual Day has always been a popular annual event in St. Joseph 's College, not just for students but teachers as well. For just 20 dollars or more, they are given the rare opportunity to change out of their boring uniforms and bring the world of fashion straight into school. Although there were certain restrictions to the types of clothing allowed, the enthusiasm of teachers and students alike were not to be diminished. Moreover, for the first time ever, the bans on round-collared shirts and pullovers were lifted, greatly widening the available choices. Many students were seen testing out this new improvement.
Besides, as a reward for their generous contribution to The Community Chest, participating students were also given discount coupons which entitled them to receive special offers from various companies such as G2000, Pizza Hut, and Timberland to name a few. Indeed, it was well worth the 20 dollars.
This project aims at arousing the social awareness of students as well as kindling their interest in charity affairs, and once again, it has been very successful in both matters. Finally, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to all participants for their generous contribution and support. We hope the Second Dress Causal Day can arrive quickly.

The familiar voice of the old boy Mr. Charles Yu again echoed through the halls of SJC and diffused into the hearts of the Josephians. Mr. Charles Yu, now a famous lecturer on EQ and AQ visited his mother school, St. Joseph 's College, on 23th September in order to give useful lectures on Multiple Intelligence which could help Josephians in dealing with their teenage problems.
He mainly lectured the senior form students on improvements that could lead them to success. As soon as the students entered the New Hall after the bell, a relaxing and friendly atmosphere was established. The lecture was started off by a round of applause. Mr. Yu introduced himself and greeted the anticipated Josephians. When the technicians were setting up the equipments, Mr. Yu handed some questionnaires to the students and the students murmured as they were filling it in since the questions were mainly asking them to rate themselves in different aspects, such as patience, domination and so on. Josephians were shown great interest in those questionnaires and not long, they joyously they finished their questionnaires. The pleasant atmosphere continued to envelop the students as Mr. Yu explained the purpose of the questionnaire and all were busy calculating their marks, as well as finding out their personality type. After that, trenchancies prepared by Mr. Yu were shown on the screen, helping students to understand the main idea of the questionnaire, which was actually a psychological test. Josephians were asked to analyze their own results, so that they could fully master the skill of understanding their weakness. After that, Josephians were taught about ways of improving their motivation and life style, so as to accomplish fascinating achievements in the future.
Interactions between the stage and the students were maintained by hilarious jokes as well as questions. Another round of applause and laughter ended the lecture which lasted for almost three periods. All students participated in the lecture and after the lecture, the students were armed with new knowledge and skills which they learnt from Mr. Yu. Wielding the techniques that they had learnt, it was sure that they would be more all-rounded and competitive.
